Tank cleaning nozzles

One of the largest cleaning jobs in any industrial application is that of tank cleaning. Many solutions involve manual cleaning with a wand or mechanical cleaning with a static spray ball. However, compared to those methods, rotating tank cleaning nozzles have proven themselves over the years to be a more efficient and cost-effective means of performing that important task.

To that end, Lechler’s line of tank cleaning products is primarily rotational.
Here are the basic fundamentals of our tank cleaning product line:

Free spinning heads

The cleaning fluid turns the spray head by means of specially-positioned nozzles. Rapid-repetition impact loosens the dirt and washes it off of the tank surfaces. The effect is best at lower pressures in small to medium-size tanks. This is because as inlet pressure increases, droplet sizes decrease, creating more of a mist than an impact spray. Since larger droplets are necessary for impact cleaning, a pressure range of 20-60 psi is optimal for tank cleaning with free spinning heads.

Internal regulated drive

For this style, the head speed is controlled internally instead of varying directly with the inlet pressure.  Therefore, rotation speed remains relatively constant as inlet pressure increases, resulting in stronger, more consistent cleaning impact.  The ACCUClean model uses the liquid flow to power the head by way of an internal propeller, keeping the head rotation speed constant across a wide span of pressures.  The 5TM model uses the cleaning fluid to drive an internal gear reducer that keeps the sprayer turning consistently in two planes. In the course of a spraying cycle, the 5TM solid stream jets sweep the entire inside surface of the tank according to a predetermined pattern. This takes a certain amount of time, but these models generate the highest jet pressures which can spray the greatest distances and are therefore ideal for very large tanks and the toughest of cleaning tasks.

Static spray balls

Static spray balls do not rotate, so they require a comparatively large amount of liquid in order to generate turbulent flow. They are used primarily for washing down relatively small tanks and vessels.

Given the wide variety of shapes and sizes of tanks used throughout various industries and the array of tank cleaning products Lechler has available for cleaning them, we would suggest that you contact Lechler or one of our representatives for assistance in the selection of a product that would work best for your specific application.
