Lechler now offers an improved nozzle design for cooling on continuous slab casters: the MasterCooler. This new design approach offers optimum atomization and superior distribution to meet the strict requirements for slab cooling on new or existing installations. Its operating pressures and flow rates along with its inlet configuration make it a natural choice to improve existing casters, or for design into units still under construction.
Typical MasterCooler nozzles are manufactured with body components in nickel plated brass with the inlets, orifice and wear parts from stainless steel.
Standard lengths are shown, however custom lengths are available upon request.
Over the years, Lechler has made some special MASTERCOOLER’s to work with specific installations as customers have requested assistance. Here are some examples of what we have done which may give you some ideas of what we can do for you.
This configuration uses a threaded stud extension to allow the nozzle to bolt directly to a header plate. These can be made in many lengths and sizes.
To reduce the damage done by wrecks and breakouts, this configuration uses a special bolt-on stud plate with a break-away mount. Now, if the tip of the nozzle is pulled aside the mounting pin breaks before the nozzle neck is bent or damaged severely. During rebuilding, only the stud-plate and perhaps the tip requires replacement rather than the complete nozzle.
For some installations, the standard axial configuration simply won’t work. Here we built a special version where the mixing block is turned 90° from the tip. This allows you to mount the MASTERCOOLER in many types of applications where a more conventional nozzle can’t do the job.
