Making great strides: the new logistics center takes shape

Since the groundbreaking ceremony in February 2020 for the new logistics center at the company headquarters in Metzingen, a lot has happened on the construction site.

After the shell and steel construction was completed, the drywall construction could start and windows and doors were installed. The exterior facade was also completed. A special highlight is the exterior facade of the office wing, which consists of anthracite-colored elements with a special surface. This appears in completely different light depending on the time of day and sunlight.
The loading ramps for the trucks and the corresponding rolling gates have also been installed. Also, the connection to the production building has been realized, so that an optimum material flow from production to the logistics center and back will be possible. A complex sprinkler system ensures that the building and equipment are adequately protected in the event of an emergency.

The installation of the automatic shuttle warehouse and the high rack warehouse at the heart of the building is currently in full swing, as is the installation of the building and electrical systems. The nozzle assembly area will be ready for occupancy as early as May.

The modern offices, whose design is subject to a uniform graphic, very attractive overall concept, are also taking shape. The IT department will move into its new premises as early as May of this year, with the other departments following in summer. A so-called Working Café is also part of the project. It offers employees a place to relax and exchange ideas with colleagues.

The outdoor facilities will be redesigned and planted, giving the entire area a harmonious overall appearance. The photovoltaic system installed on the roof of the building will make an important contribution to the energy efficiency of the new logistics center.

All the work is on schedule, so that nothing stands in the way of the planned commissioning at the beginning of 2022.
